Great news for all Batman fans as come this July we are about to witness the return of our much loved super hero in Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus “The Dark Knight Rises”, the 3rd and final installment of Batman’s series after Batman Begins in 2005 and The Dark Knight in 2008. Ever since the 2nd Batman film ended in 2008, speculations were on as to when Nolan will gift us with the return of our favorite hero Batman and much to people’s surprise Nolan is back with his new offering , but with an intention of concluding the Batman series with The Dark Knight Rises.
Christopher Nolan’s journey with Batman started with Batman Begins which released to bumper response in 2005, which was followed by the sequel The Dark Knight in 2008 that broke all previous record of superhero films. As per various surveys done, Batman has scored over Superman in terms of popularity and Nolan’s 3rd Batman offering will only take his popularity to a new level which no other superheroes have achieved so far. Not many know that Nolan was initially reluctant to make another Batman series but after series of discussion with the creative team, he decided to make the 3rd part so that the series can end on a happy note.
The plot of Dark Knight Rises is an extension of The Dark Knight where Batman takes responsibility of Dent crimes and feels compelled to intervene to protect the city from Bane’s plan of destroying the city. The film stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman and is written by Christopher Nolan himself. This 2012 release is much bigger in terms of budget and scale. While the 1st part was made on a budget of $150 million, Dark Knight Rises’s budget is a mammoth $250 million.
The film has been shot in different corners of the world ranging from London, Los Angeles, New Jersey, Pittsburg and India. Yes you heard it right, Batman’s 3rd installment has been shot in some parts of India and the makers wish to capitalize on it by releasing the film with a large number of prints in India.
The hype for Dark Knight Rises is very high which was gauged from the six minute promo that was attached to the prints of Tom Cruise hit Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol. It was a unique technique used to build up the hype by launching the teaser with Mission Impossible in December last year. Many fans love Batman for his vulnerable character, unlike other superheroes he is not a quintessential good guy. He is rough, macho and follows a grey path. But end of the day he is here to protect the city against all odds hence we cannot help but fall in love with him for all the right reasons.
The film will hit the screens worldwide on July 20th, 2012 and if the pre-release buzz is of any indication, this Nolan film with keep the cash register ringing at the box office. Entire world is eager to see the 3rd and the final edition of Batman series so all you Batman fans, get ready to see the legend back on screen for one last final time. Personally I would want the series to continue as long as possible but sad truth is that the Legend of Batman is indeed ending with “The Dark Knight Rises”. Countdown for July 20th starts, tick tick tick !
