Guess this is a year of unconventional films with unique storytelling and good performances. Films like Pan Singh Tomar, Kahaani and Vicky Donor have set the dice rolling and now the Industry is banking on Ishaqzade to keep the legacy forward. Talking of Ishaqzade, the film has created a very positive impact with its slick and interesting promos and the lead actors are only adding more spice to this keenly anticipated film. Gone are days when only big stars could ensure a huge opening at the ticket window. Vicky Donor has proved that if the content is good and promos look exciting, even a non star film can make money. Going by Ishaqzade rushes, this can well be an interesting watch.
With Ishaqzade newcomer Arjun Kapoor is making his big ticket entry in Bollywood. Son of producer Boney Kapoor, Arjun had to work hard to have a foot hold in film industry. From being an over weight (140 kg) kid to a handsome hunk, the transformation was not too easy for this Kapoor lad. Thanks to Salman Khan’s guidance and Arjun’s determination, the kid worked his heart out to be what he is today. Needless to say he is looking super cool and if promos are anything to go by, the guy does know his craft. Same applies for actress Parineeti Chopra who made her debut in not so memorable film like Ladies Vs Ricky Behal. Though the film sank, Parineeti emerged as the next big thing of Bollywood. She is cute, spontaneous and has a likeable factor which likes of Rani Mukherjee had when she entered the film industry. Parineeti’s performance in her 1st film was extremely natural and with Ishaqzade she is sure to surprise her fans in a big way. She might be Priyanka’s cousin but her acting skill is strong enough to create her own name without having to depend on her superstar sister. What is working more for the film is the cute pairing of Arjun and Parineeti. Both look at ease in front of camera and their rustic look with Haryanvi dialect is adding more spice to the curiosity level of aam janta.
Another factor that goes in favor of the film is director Habib Faizal who made his debut with Rishi & Neetu Kapoor starrer “Do Dooni Char”. His 1st film was extremely well told and it gave us the belief that good stories are here to stay. Like his 1st venture, Ishaqzade too boasts of a good plot. Story of a rustic guy from Lucknow falling for a brat girl in the backdrop of small town violence is definitely interesting and going by Habib’s record of striving for perfection, Ishaqzade definitely looks promising. Amit Trivedi’s music is another feather in the cap of the makers. All the songs are catchy specially “Pareshan” and title track Ishaqzade. “Chokra jawan” will be the next big hit song when the film hits the theater.
A film becomes memorable when its story overshadows the lead stars and going by the promos of Ishaqzade, one does get a positive feel. The film has no big names yet the plot and the promos have generated all the buzz and this is great news for the makers. Audiences have shown interest in the film and now the film has to do the talking. In the past there have been occasions when highly anticipated films have bombed so it’s for time to judge if Ishaqzade will be an exception or not. We surely hope it does become an exception this around. May 11th.
