Sunny Leone – From Porn Star to Superstar

Bollywood newest entry Sunny Leone is on a roll. 1^st Big Boss 5, then Jism 2, followed by a Condom brand endorsement and now a role in Ekta Kapoor’s production Ragini MMS2. This Indo-Canadian Porn star is making quite a stir with her presence in Bollywood. The 30 years old glamour doll is currently in India to complete the last schedule of Jism 2 in Mumbai. Ever since she entered the famous Bigg Boss house last November, entire nation is in love with her. Such is her presence that even Mahesh Bhatt couldn’t resist himself from visit the Bigg Boss house to offer her a film offer. You can like her or hate her but never can you ignore her for once.

One of the most important reasons for her likeability factor is her India connection. She is blond who understands Hindi and makes effort to communicate it in our language, just what Indians love. Another reason for her popularity is her good looks. Unlike other blonds, she is cute and pretty. While she can handle her sensuous side with élan, she can also accommodate herself in vicinity of being cute and loveable. Confidence is her virtue. While most porn stars shy away from admitting their nature of job in public, Leone continues to endorse her porn industry and feels unapologetic about it. This impressed lot many people including Salman Khan who was known to be extra protective to her on the sets of Bigg Boss.

Today Sunny Leone is a brand in Bollywood even without a single release to her kitty. Jism 2 is not even released and the Firang has already signed her 2^nd film with Ekta Kapoor.  However, I do have my doubt over her bollywood career. Why would an aam aadmi spend money to watch her do semi nude scenes in Jism2 when he can watch her do much more on internet? Her videos are true porn films where she has done everything without a censorship. She has been in the industry for over 5 years and has done endless videos where she is making out with both men and women, so one does not understand the concept of Bollywood using her to titillate the audience in a mainstream Hindi cinema which falls under the purview of censorship. Also, it is a known fact that she cannot act and you can never expect her to do that either. Most likely she will have voice dubbed in all her upcoming projects so expecting her to give expressions in Hindi films is a bit too much. Another factor that may work as an obstacle in her Bollywood career is the nature of films coming her way. Bollywood is known to type cast actors and knowing Sunny’s previous association with porn world, most banners here will try to cash in her hot and sexy avatar by giving her non family entertainers. Let’s face it; she is no Vidya Balan who can turn a Dirty Picture into a National award winning film. The 3^rd and most important factor is her age. At 30 she can’t compete with the likes of Parineeti Chopra or Anushka Sharma. Age is a big constraint in Bollywood.

Everything said and done we have to accept that Sunny has made a grand entry in India. Post her arrival, likes of Rakhi Sawant and Poonam Pandey are feeling the heat. Not only films, she has even bagged commercials for big money. She has recently shot for a condom brand in Thailand and talks are on with other brands too. Now amidst all this hype and hoopla, question arises that will Leone return to her Porn Industry post her releases in India? She has not yet bid good bye to the adult industry. She said and I quote “I will continue working in adult films till I make it big In Bollywood, if you want me to stay here for ever, make me a big star”.  Whether she makes it or not is for time to decide but the glam doll is making enough noise to win our attention.
