Top 5 Upcoming Hollywood movies for Summer 2012

Its summer time and most of us are dying out of heat and humidity. We hate summers in true sense but if there is one reason I wait for summer time is because of Hollywood films which releases during this time. Like most years, this summer too Hollywood has a list of cool films waiting to hit the screens and I have already picked my list of top 5 films which I am most excited about.  So without much ado, let us see my top 5 anticipated Hollywood films of 2012. Let’s see if your taste matches with mine!

The Avengers – What happens when you have Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America in same frame working together to save the world from destruction? To know the answer you have to watch The Avengers.  The film is based on the Marvel Comics and is directed by Joss Whedon. Kids are eagerly waiting for this superhero film and it is no less than a visual treat to see so many super heroes in one frame trying to combat the villain. Boys are specially excited to see hot sensation Scarlett Johansson sizzling the screen with her sex appeal. However critics are worried because having so many super heroes in one film may prove to be fatal for the film as fans of individual super heroes may not get enough of their stars. Making an ensemble cast super hero film is dangerous but as a movie buff we are eagerly looking forward to this mega action flick. Made on a budget of $250 million, Avengers will hit the screen on April 27th in India and May 4th in US and UK in 3D.

The Dark Knight Rises – I am a die hard Batman fan and I can’t wait to see my superhero for one last time in The Dark Knight Rises. Christopher Nolan’s 3rd Batman film is in the news as this will be the end of Batman series; hence people are all the more eager to see it on big screen. As the poster say “the legend ends”, Nolan is brining back batman one last time so that the series ends on a good note. The film has been made on a huge budget and some of the portions have been shot in India so I am all ready for July 20th to witness my hero for one last time. Sad!

Rock of Ages – Story of two people chasing their dream in a big city and in due course falling in love with each other is what Rock of Ages is. The film is a musical which features country singer Juliana Hough and Diego Bonta along with special appearances by Hollywood superstars Tom Cruise, & Catherine Zeta Jones.  The film will capture songs of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Poison and Europe which makes it all the more special. The promo has met with mixed response, while some did not like Tom Cruise’s look in the film, critics who have already seen the film did not like the script. Everything said and done, I am most eager to see the film for the music of Def Leppard, something I have grown up listening to. Rock of Ages releases worldwide on June 15th.

The Amazing Spiderman - Peter Parker peeps into his past to discover the mystery for the sudden disappearance of his parents when he was young. Peter discovers a briefcase that shapes his destiny of becoming Spider Man and brings him face to face with Corner, his father partner. The film is in the making from December 2010. Initially the makers wanted to name it as Spider Man 4 but after series of disagreements over the script they decided to offer a new story instead of opting for a sequel. Spider Man is huge amongst kids, they have adored him in all the series and it is needless to say this one too is sure to win huge accolades from fans and critics. The film which stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/ Spiderman hits the screen on July 3, 2012.

To Rome with Love – Any Woody Allen film is special and this romantic comedy is no less in demand. Known for his funny dialogues and realistic portrayal of romance, Woody Allen’s new offering To Rome with Love is a story of a group of people from Italy, America and the romance and adventure they get into. What is interesting is that apart from directing the film Allen is making his appearance as an actor after 2006 so this makes it all the more special. The film is releasing on July 22, 2012.

These are my top 5 films for this summer. Do share your top picks so that our choice of movies becomes multiple. Have a great Hollywood summer.
