Paneer Chilla – recipe

A popular Indian breakfast snack that has a balance of flavorful filling covered with a light and flaky crust. It not only tastes good but it is also very filling. It can be served with sweet and spicy chutneys.

Ingredients :

  • Chick Pea flour or besan – 1/2 cup
  • Rice flour – 1/2 cup
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin powder – a pinch
  • Kasoori methi dry – a pinch
  • Chopped coriander – a handful
  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required

For Filling :

  • Paneer crumbled – 1 cup
  • Onion finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Tomato finely chopped – 1/2 cup
  • Salt and pepper

Method :

In a large bowl, mix gram flour ,rice flour, spices and salt. Add oil and pour water to make a smooth batter. Make sure that there are no lumps formed. Add chopped coriander and mix it well ,keep aside. Mix paneer with chopped onion ,tomato, salt and pepper. Heat a non stick tawa and smear oil or ghee in the center. Spread  a ladle of batter on tawa to make a chilla, drizzle oil drops around the chilla and  cook for about 2 to 3 minutes and turn the side and cook on the other side till it is crisp. Put a handful of filling along the length at the center and fold from both sides to form a wrap (Roll it up like dosa).

Serve the pancake with sweet chutney, green chutney or ketchup.
