Nauli Kriya

By Indian Ayurvedic and Yogic principles the root source of all illnesses are  a misadjusted spine and an unhealthy or unclean Digestive/ Elimination tract. That is why  there are a lot of asanas and kriyas that are directed to the spine and the Digestive /Elimination tract.

The nauli Kriya is one such exercise directed primarily to the digestive /Elimination tract. It is an abdominal churning action done with the help of the rectus muscle.  It is one of the 11 kriyas for cleansing the entire body .  The  goal of a yogi is to purify the body systems at the prana level – which must start at the physical  level.  A purified body free of all waste materials and toxins coaxed by certain yogic exercise like nauli kriya lead to purification at the pranic level  (the energy body of man). A purified prana body is then fit for further spiritual discipline and true meditation.

The primary physical advantages of  Nauli Kriya are

  • Good digestion
  • Elimination of all abdominal ailments
  • Sound peristaltic movement
  • Eradicate chronic constipation.
  • Liver and pancreas are toned
  • Higher sensory experience
  • Clearer and calmer mental awareness
  • Sense of calm high energy

The practice of  Nauli kriya is easier than it looks  – beginners may feel a little pain in the first few days  – this is nothing to worry about. The discomfort will vanish in a few days. [Article View] : 2164

It may look spectacularly impossible but with gradual practice it is all possible. Normally one masters udiyana baandh before parctising nauli. You can check out Udiyana on utube
