Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians eliminator – expected 11

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will take on Mumbai Indians at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The losing team will quit the competition, while the champions will have to play the qualifiers against Delhi Daredevils to fix their place in the finals of DLF IPL 2012 against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 27.

Both teams would consider themselves fortunate to have created it to the top four. The Mumbai Indians have created it to the 2012 playoffs despite not enjoying to their potential. Chennai have been fortunate to arrive at the 2012 DLF playoffs. It was Bangalore unable to in cash the golden opportunity in a match against Deccan chargers unable to chase down the small total of 133 runs and made the way for Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team to qualify for the Play-offs, which has won just eight of 16 matches in league matches and holds better run rate in compare to Bangalore team.

In the Mumbai Indians line-up, keep an eye – as always – on Sachin Tendulkar. The Little Expert has had a normal competition by his standards; he’s only managed two half-centuries in 12 matches. The 39-year-old looked in good nick in the past go against the Rajasthan Royals – when he obtained an unbeaten 58 and was engaged in a match-winning collaboration with Dwayne Smith at the top order. Then there is Rohit Sharma, who has been outstanding in the middle order, while Ambati Rayudu and Dinesh Karthik have been quite useful. The presence of Kieron Pollard gives them a different aspect completely.

Mumbai team has a good pace attack with Lasith Malinga, their spearhead, has taken 22 wickets in 13 matches at a tightfisted economic rate of 6. RP Singh and Munaf Patel have been excellent in areas and Harbhajan, after a bad start with the bowl in the tournament, has showed some form in the last few suits.

In the Chennai line-up, look out for Murali Vijay, Hussey, and Suresh Raina and skipper MS Dhoni. Vijay looks totally out of form, if we compared his match-winning innings in the last IPL 2011; just 86 runs in his first eight innings this season, the 28-year-old seems to excellent chip made 48 runs against the Delhi Daredevils and 36 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and he will look to precede the great work in all-important matches. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni have had inadequate competitions too; both players are yet to make a half-century this season and this could just be their time of reckoning. To say Raina – the biggest run-getter in the IPL – is the key to Chennai Super Kings’ achievements will not be wrong. Chennai have got a chance to retrieve themselves. If they can choose themselves up in the 2012 DLF playoffs and discover form, they can finish a hat-trick of titles.

Toss going to be crucial in the match, whichever team wins the toss would like to chase down rather than defending it. It’s a flat batting track.
