Deccan chargers would be in search for their first win in DLF IPL 2012 against the Pune Warriors India at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune. Sourav Ganguly’s PWI thrashed down by the Delhi Daredevils in their last match. After losing two wickets in the first two overs, PWI retrieved through Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey. The duo can’t accelerate the run rate when required, and PWI finished up for 146 for two. The Delhi Daredevils chased down very comfortably. The Deccan chargers are yet to win 1 match in the IPL 2012. They have played six league matches and have a individual point on the points table which was due to match washed off against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
For the Pune their offshore players – Ryder and Smith –need to fire at the starting and the end of their innings. They also need that the middle order batsmen carry down the momentum till the end.For the Deccan to flame, they need their skipper Kumar Sangakkara to bat through the innings and build up the strong platform for Shikhar Dhawan, JP Duminy and Cameron to accelerate the further innings. Dale Steyn has been outstanding so far but he need to motivate other bowlers of his team to do the same .
In conclusion Deccan needs top-class performance from the team, led by Steyn, Sangakkara, and Mishra, or else they will soon be out of competition for the play-offs.
