Google Maps new update for Android – Ver. 6.5

Google Maps is a stock app of Google’s mobile OS android and is undoubtedly a very powerful app for all your GPS requirements. Today Google Maps has been update to version 6.5 and we have seen some major changes in update. Over the past few years, Google has dominated the market in GPS requirements in Android, iPhone as well as RIM powered Blackberry devices.

If you use some premier devices like Google Nexus, Samsung Note, then you will get High Definition support, which makes it easier to read as well as feels good to look at. For devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, there is a whole new interface for Google Maps. ICS 4.0 has not yet reached the masses as it is being supported by only high end devices as of now, but ICS has developed a lot of curiosity among Android users.

The voice dictation feature of Google Maps, which resembles SIRI of iPhone 4S, shows a “Recommended Route” and help users to select and prioritize the transit mode they frequently use.

Google has started implementing “Navigation” feature across many countries on various devices.

Some of the new/improved features in Google Maps version 6.5:

  1. Detailed maps with 3D buildings
  2. Voice guided turn-by-turn GPS navigation
  3. Driving, public transit, biking, and walking direction
  4. Live traffic information to avoid congestion
