How to root Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 Gingerbread

So u have successfully upgraded your Galaxy Pro to Gingerbread 2.3.6, if not you can still click here to upgrade it to Gingerbread. You pretty much know what rooting is and what are its benefits and drawbacks and finally you have decided (like me) to root your Galaxy Pro to explore the extreme capabilities of your phone. It’s not tough and it’s a successful method as it has been tried and tested in 5 different region handsets. The file to root is different for froyo and gingerbread. Check the steps thoroughly:

  1. Download gingerbread root file from this 4shared link. You can download gingerbread root file directly from your phone by entering this link or you can download it in your PC and then transfer it to your phone. Link: http://www.4shared.com/zip/DvWzI6Xy/gingerbred-236-root.html
  2. Save this gingerbread root file in the root directory (the main directory and not in any folder) of your SD card.
  3. Power off your Samsung galaxy pro.
  4. Press “Power” + T together to enter into recovery mode. You will notice that your galaxy pro will boot for couple of times before entering to recovery mode. Don’t panic, just wait and keep pressing the key combination.
  5. Use the volume “down” key to go to the 2nd option on screen which says : apply update from sdcard
    root-samsung-galaxy-pro-gingerbread-1

    Root samsung galaxy pro B7510

  6. Click on the “HOME” key to select this option.
  7.  On next screen you will see gingerbread-2.3.6.root.zip, go down to that option by pressing the volume “down” key and press home key again to select.
    root-samsung-galaxy-pro-gingerbread

    Root samsung galaxy pro B7510

  8.  Some kernel codes will run and wait for the notification that says: “Install from SD card complete”.
  9. Press on the “HOME” key again on the option “Reboot Now”. Wait for your galaxy pro to restart.

That’s it. Your galaxy pro is rooted and you are ready to explore the extreme power of galaxy pro. Find the super user app already installed in your applications. Best of luck!

Warning: If a single step goes wrong, your galaxy pro might hardbrick. It’s successful for all of us as of now. We would not be responsible if something goes wrong. This information has been pulled up from different websites and compiled here. Credit goes to samfirmware for providing the files.

reply me here else plz mail me d same
    waiting bro

    • Sid January 8, 2012 at 5:05 PM -

droidsail is a nice app, it will not alter system apps, and all the other downloaded apps(which needs to be installed in phone memory) can be transferred to sdcard. i transferred many apps which were in phone memory to sd card..
and download root uninstaller or titanium backup for removing Samsung apps. but before removing any system apps take its back up from the same app that u use to remove.. and Dont remove apps like music player, settings, task manager, etc…

But on recovery mode written that apply sdcard:update.zip, sdcard is not showing there

    • Sid January 8, 2012 at 11:31 PM -

First of all tell me is ur sd card working?? secondly, where did u save the file in sd card, just for ur knowledge, save it in root directory of sd card.(means dont put that gingerbread update file in any folder in sd card),.. it will work fine. if u have checked these 2 things and it still doesnt work, remove sd card and re install it..

  8. satbir January 8, 2012 at 9:04 PM -

Plz sid tell me the solution

hello friends I’m from mexico, this tutorial applies to my company is Telcel and would not change my language?

    • Sid January 9, 2012 at 11:25 AM -

Rooting should not alter language. However, upgrading to gingerbread will alter as the firmware is from Europe

its no chance to install the famous Cyanogen Mod, in this device??
Since i update, I had many problems with wifi (error )…. and can not find solution, so I went back often … but if he did in froyo

    • Sid January 9, 2012 at 8:07 PM -

Cyanogen Mod is not available for this device. and I use only wifi in the cell phone. After upgrading to gingerbread it became better.. No issues after rooting too till now

  13. Abhijit January 9, 2012 at 10:00 PM -

    Hi,
I’m unable to boot my device into recovery mode. I press Power + T but it simply reboots normally every time.
How exactly are you supposed to press the 2 buttons together?

    • Sid January 9, 2012 at 10:54 PM -

Abhijit, did u read this line ???

“”Press “Power” + T together to enter into recovery mode. You will notice that your galaxy pro will boot for couple of times before entering to recovery mode. Don’t panic, just wait and keep pressing the key combination.::

it will reboot 2 or 3 times while u r pressing these key combinations.. dont panic, keep these keys pressed until it enters recovery mode..

      • Abhijit January 9, 2012 at 11:43 PM -

So you’re saying that I should let it reboot normally, then turn it off, and then try again by pressing Power + T?
I’ve been doing this for about 8 – 10 times now. How many times does one typically have to repeat the process?

        • Sid January 10, 2012 at 12:06 AM -

Bhai, shut it down.. once its powered off, den press power + T and dont leave d keys until its into d recovery mode.. i just now tried it, and it rebooted twice then entered recovery mode.

  14. Alan January 9, 2012 at 11:27 PM -

    • Sid January 10, 2012 at 12:07 AM -

sir i want to know that after rooting from ginger bird 2.3.6 to b7510 ,is phone will work smoothly with out problems i.e. os will work normally or wi have to make any changes in settings or else

    • Sid January 11, 2012 at 2:12 PM -

Rooting will only give u superadmin rights so that u can install some rooted apps and u can remove apps and alter files in the original system.. thats the basic work of rooting… i did not face ny prob after rooting and I removed all the useless apps provided in stock rom….

  18. h.basavaraj January 11, 2012 at 3:08 PM -

thank u very much for early reply try to go ahead with it and inform u

Hello! I ve installed the gingerbread rom and rooted my B7510 from Claro Peru (LA) succesfully. The phone works fine in general except for two things: when u activate the hotspot eventually fails and report “error” so u have to restart the phone to solve this, and the other – the screen blinks and turns off sometimes when you are using the phone. Some of you have similar problems? There are not big deals but if there is a solution would be good :)

    • Sid January 24, 2012 at 8:58 AM -

Try resetting the phone once.,. this must be the solution

hi sid. I’m from india and i bought galaxy pro in september 2011. i am looking for an update to gingerbread and read your article for an update.
i’m satisfied with reviews and want to go ahead with an update. i even read your article on how to root galaxy pro(B7510) and was even happy to see good reviews with small errors but its okay.

my only worry is regarding my warranty.
would un-official upgrade and rooting may harm my phone or void the warranty?

    • Sid January 27, 2012 at 8:43 PM -

if nothing goes wrong, it will not be harmfull to ur phone.. but yes, it will void warranty.. i will evn give u un-root file, so that if u start facing minor hardware issues, u can unroot ur phone and claim ur warranty back..,

i feel good to see my phone with new icons and and a smooth ui.
i want to root my phone now.
may you upload an unroot file as well as a froyo 2.2. 2 file, which may help me to get back to
my OG version of galaxy pro.
i’m asking for it cuz if i face any problem within next six months than i can go to the service
center and make use of the warranty.

    • Sid January 30, 2012 at 4:58 PM -

u r from which region? i mean which froyo file will be used in ur fone??? Asia, middle east or europe??

  58. Antarix January 30, 2012 at 1:37 PM -

is it necessary to root the phone for using adobe flash player?
i upgraded to gingerbread 2.3.6 and than installed flash player but whenever i open 4shared.com to download any file than the time stops after a couple of seconds and unfortunately i cant view the download link.
    i’m using opera mini.
    help me.

  59. Arshad January 30, 2012 at 2:12 PM -

Antarix use Opera Mobile instead of Opera Mini……because Opera Mini doesn’t support complex JavaScript and Flash while Opera Mobile supports!

    hi sid.
i did root my phone and installed setcpu, titanium backup, adfree, etc.
i took backup of all the apps and than deleted samsung apps through titanium backup.
i tried to re-install samsung apps but my phone turns off as soon as i try to install it.
it happens the same with adfree.
i tried to make my phone ad free but whenever i’m in the process to download and install hosts the phone turns off.
    help please.

    • Sid January 31, 2012 at 11:05 AM -

Try to use any good app for adfree.. the app dat u r using must be a trouble itslf.. and regarding re-installing samsung apps, i have used titanium backup . At first, i took backup of that app, then uninstalled it. Now, just to cross check, i opened titanium backup and opened that app, then clicked on restore.. and the app got reinstalled.. :)

  66. Antarix January 31, 2012 at 1:38 PM -

i did the same but my phone turns off while restoring samsung apps.
may you suggest me any good app to make my phone ad-free.

    • Sid January 31, 2012 at 4:17 PM -

I have seen any ad-free app working perfectly fine till date.. will try to find out some apps and wil send u the link

    • Sid February 1, 2012 at 12:07 AM -

  72. Antarix February 1, 2012 at 6:52 PM -

hey sid. may you help me out on how to free my system rom space.
it is 208 mb and not even 1 mb is free.

even i would like to know which system apps should i delete to make the best use of my internal memory for a hassle free performance of my phone.

    • Sid February 1, 2012 at 10:57 PM -

Bro, my phone is not working now. SO i dont remember the exact name of the app.. But i guess it was DroidSail App 2 SD.. use this app and move all the apps like facebook, twitter, etc to SD card which are installed on phone memory by default.. Remove samsung apps, thinkfree office, samsung im, samsung mail, email app, etc.. and instead of them install documents 2 go, k9 email and transfer these 2 apps on SD card.. u will end up freeing 40-50 MB space atleast

  73. Sid February 1, 2012 at 10:57 PM -

is it possible to download samsung app from google than to install it in my phone and convert it to system app through titanium backup?

    • Sid February 3, 2012 at 10:26 AM -

dont try all these.. might mess up the system files.. why u need samsung apps? one of the most bogus application i have evr seen.. the worst part is it doesnt work until u update it and if u update it it consumes more internal memory

  75. Antarix February 2, 2012 at 10:40 AM -

what happened to your phone, mate?

    • Sid February 3, 2012 at 10:28 AM -

Iy will be going to service center.. I was trying to install clockwork mod and cyanogen mod and it destroyed my phone’s kernel and now its hard bricked.. one advice to samsung users : “DONT USE ROM MANAGER”..its not for us

  76. Antarix February 2, 2012 at 12:47 PM -

may i delete social hub without any worries?
i cant see samsung email in applications.

    • Sid February 3, 2012 at 10:29 AM -

Yes,, just take a backup and uninstall social hub.. and samsung mail is there in the name of “MAIL”.. i uninstalled that too and installed K9 mail app..its much better than stock “MAIL” app

  77. Palkesh February 2, 2012 at 4:40 PM -

what ar ethe advantages of rooting?
i have completed my uprgradation to gingerbreas but there is no big change in my phone…

    • Sid February 3, 2012 at 10:31 AM -

Well, there cant be any big change in ur phone.. and watevr change u dont know, is mentioned in that upgrading article.. Rooting will give u super user/admin rights on ur phone.. and u can uninstall stock app which u dont use and free up internal memory.. moreovr u can move few apps to SD card which alwaz gets installed on PHONE MEMORY by default..

  78. Antarix February 3, 2012 at 9:05 AM -

    • Sid February 4, 2012 at 12:01 AM -

      dont do it !!

    • Arshad February 4, 2012 at 10:22 AM -

These .asec files are the application which installed in Sdcard if you delete them, then sure your applications will deleted.

    Its okay, sid.

  82. Arshad February 4, 2012 at 10:28 AM -

Hi Im running on 2.3.6 , I just bought the mobile but I’m not able to connect to wifi its always scanning and disconnected , even I changed the setting of the router and removed the password so even with open network it’s not connecting where as my laptop and iPad connect normally with no issue !

Please advice before I return the mobile to the shop !

    • Sid March 1, 2012 at 10:47 AM -

Sorry for replying late !! The issue must be with some app that u have installed which is not being supported properly.. uninstall all the recent installed app !! and check !! if it still doesnt work, then factory reset the phone once. even after that if it doesnt work, time to take it to service center !!

  96. John February 18, 2012 at 8:22 PM -

    Hi,

Previously I rooted my B-7510 and unrooted due to change of LCD. but now i’m trying to root again it’s installing but when running busybox it is not installing. can any one suggest how to complete rooting

    • Sid March 1, 2012 at 10:50 AM -

What u mean by complete rooting.. this file roots the phone.. there isnt any term as complete or partial rooting.. and yes, this is not temporary rooting..its permanent rooting !!

  97. John February 18, 2012 at 8:43 PM -

Is this below point is required to complete the task when rooting. I saw some where in net.

Step 5: Select ‘++++ Go Back ++++’ and choose ‘wipe data / factory reset’. Once done, select ‘wipe cache partition’ then reboot your handset via ‘reboot system now’.

    • Sid March 1, 2012 at 10:52 AM -

The main thing is, you have to wipe cache partition.. either do it from recovery mode or do it from settings when your phone boots

  98. jorge February 22, 2012 at 5:46 AM -

thanks for all the support I worked very well and I have a problem just does not work does not detect the network wifi

  100. Josh February 24, 2012 at 2:28 AM -

I upgrade my White B7510 and now I’m having a WiFi issue where after awhile it will just show “Error” and won’t let me turn on or off. Every once in awhile I’ll have a weird screen off as well. I even did a factory reset after flashing. I’ve thus tried many different firmwares and they all seem to have issues now. Is there anything you suggest Sid?

    • Sid March 1, 2012 at 10:56 AM -

Hi.. even i face this wi-fi error issue. i even faced this when it was stock firmware (froyo 2.2.2 version).. when i shifted to gingerbread, i stopped facing this, but from last few days it has again started.. i guess there must be some prob of conflict with some app orelse its a hardware issue

  101. Chang February 25, 2012 at 10:46 AM -

I have exactly same problem with Josh since I upgrade my B7510. I reinstall gingerbread couple times but still have same problem.

  102. antarix February 25, 2012 at 1:39 PM -

    • Sid March 1, 2012 at 10:58 AM -

Super user is an app which gets installed when u root ur phone.. in many phones it don’t get installed when u rot, so u need to download and install it from market…

well superuser itslf doesn’t have any function.

    • Sid March 16, 2012 at 11:27 AM -

set cpu for root users ” is the best app in terms of overclocking..but i nvr tried it on pro..

  113. Jaimin Rajani March 16, 2012 at 5:04 PM -

Brilliant tutorial Sid! I successfully and smoothly upgraded to Gingerbread 4 days back (thanks to you). But I’m not too sure if the froyo unroot process was successful before upgrading or not. After upgrading to gingerboard, I used this method to root it, but it seems I can’t. After select the zip file in the recovery mode it says successfully installed but the phone is actually not rooted after the reboot.

P.S. I have seen you warning people not to use root explorer, while it is installed on my phone. Can it be causing the problem, or would you recommend resetting to factory settings and then carry out this root process again, or something else? Kindly help ASAP. Thanks!

  114. Antarix March 17, 2012 at 1:06 PM -

    thanks sid.

  115. Antarix March 17, 2012 at 2:11 PM -

i want to overclock my phone because almost it is on low memory…
i find around 20-30 mb free else are being used by the running application.
even if i kill the processes they start again in a couple of minutes.
this is the only reason behind my wish to overclock cuz the low memory causes my phone to work slow.

I have a Samsung galaxy pro 7510b running gingerbread 2.3.6

I downloaded the rooting zip file, placed it in the SD card, got into recovery mode, got to the file and run it… the file runs on the screen for a second but then i am getting multiple notice:

    (status 7)

    installation aborted

    where is it going wrong?

PLS,is there any way where i can boost my internal memory because it is so annoying when it reminds me of “internal memory low, delete some item”, but many applications are stored directly to the internal memory
