Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 to Gingerbread 2.3.6 Asia Firmware

Upgrade Samsung Galaxy Pro B7510 to Gingerbread 2.3.6 Asia Firmware

Samsung has recently launched the Asian gingerbread firmware for Galaxy Pro B7510. The previous version was official update of Europe Galaxy Pro B7510. I heard many people complaining about keyboard layout issue, symbols issue, wifi issue, battery issue in the Europe version. So I tried using the Singapore gingerbread version of Galaxy Pro B7510 and it worked like a charm. By far this is the most compatible version for Asian Samsung Galaxy Pro. I am from India and it is working fine after 2 days of testing.

Steps before Upgrading:

  1. Take backup of Contacts. Go to Contacts > Press Menu button > Click on More > Import/Export > Export to SD card > Confirm by pressing Yes.
  2. Take backup of your messages. For this you need an app. I personally use SMS backup & Restore Pro by Ritesh Sahu, you can get it for free, check this article.
  3. Take backup of the installed apps. For this you need to use a file explorer app, I used ES File Explorer. To take the backup of the apps installed, Open ES File Explorer > Press Menu button > Click on Manager > Click App Manager > Press Multi-select button on the top and select all the apps > Press Menu key > Click on Backup. The backup will be taken in SD card “backup” folder.
  4. Take backup of current settings and application data. Go to Settings >Privacy settings > Put a check mark on Back up my data and Automatic Restore.
  5. Shut down your galaxy pro and remove SD card and SIM card. (Don’t Power On your galaxy pro)

Bennett_v1.0 ops file: Click here to download.

Odin downloader: Click here to download.

Unzip and extract the files that you have downloaded to a specific folder. (No password required)

Step By Step Process:

  1. Press Power and Q button of your Galaxy Pro simultaneously to enter in Download mode.
  2. Run Odin downloader in your PC.
  3. Once you are in the Download mode, connect it to USB data cable and wait for ODIN to detect the phone. Once detected, the COM PORT 1 MAPPING box will become yellow and the phone’s port will be detected.
  4. Put a check mark on Auto reboot and Protect OPS.
  5. Click on OPS to browse and select the OPS file. You need to go the destination folder where you have extracted Bennett_v1.0 ops file.
  6. Put a check mark on One Package and browse and select the firmware file in the last box that is ONE PACKAGE.

  7. Now click on start. Wait until the green bar in the first box reached to the end. It will reboot your Galaxy Pro twice or thrice.
  8. Once done, it will give a message as PASS in the COM PORT box as well as message section.

  9. Disconnect the phone from USB. Go to Settings > About Phone and check the Firmware Version.
  10. Restore the phone back to factory settings to wife off the data. To do it Go to Settings > Privacy settings > Factory Data reset.
  11. Once it restarts, shut it down again and insert SD card and SIM card and now your Samsung Galaxy Pro is just like a brand new handset with android gingerbread.
  12. You can follow this article if you want to setup up phone for the first time.

Warning: Make sure your cell is fully charged while doing this and take proper back up of apps, contacts and SMS before trying this.  As we mentioned, we have done successful upgrades on 10 handsets and all of them are working fine.     Rooting is same.. i re-rooted with the same file..

    and i did not evn unroot before upgrading..
    This time i did not evn wipe the data.. its working absolutely fine. after upgrading u need to root again as it will unrooted.

    There is one bug in keyboard after this new update!
    Sym button doesn’t work, after pressing it shows “English (US)” msg.
    Sym button shows symbols when you press once Alt key then Sym button.

    hey sid i forgot to unlink few system apps like maps, play store, superuser etc, using link2sd app, before upgrade to asia version and hence all these apps are missing now after upgrade, how shud i retain these apps now?

        Well like i said i’m unable to access market i cannot install any app, not even thru usb cable. I do have back up of Superuser app, but its not installing, error i get is ‘application not installed’. Because of this my link2sd and all other apps that require root are not running as they require superuser permission. So unless superuser is installed properly i may not be able to unlink all the linked apps. Help me install Superuser.

      i do all as it says ….i bought fone frm india …i try to shoot middle east vrsionnn….all i complete tha frst session …bt still thn its switched off…its not getting on..all i do is..i connect fone ..opss….package(apboot)..afta completion…ma fone not responding…so i start again….bt tht not copleting eithrrr….still now its dead…is thr ny solution fo me??

    very big problem here…..u can easily upgrade to gingerbread, root it……but if u go advanced like titanium bkup, busybox, root logger, android linux emulation, bash……….u r in big trouble….ur system memory ll be lost and u can brick ur phone…..so better upgrade to gbread and dont root it……..

      irvin debe ser por que no le diste reset al cache del telefono es el ultimo paso antes de que vuelva a funcionar bien, checa el post, es una combinacion de teclas al encender el telefono

    it looks like the Asian update works for the galaxy pros in latin america, the problem with the euopean update is the modem, the bands are diferent and 3g wont work.

    Is it posible for you to make a hibrid and pack the latin spanish lenguage and keyboard in the asian update?, or maybe the modem with the correct bands in the european rom?
