You think it’s cool being called a Geek or a Nerd? But do you know what does these terms actually stand for? What’s the difference between a Geek and a Nerd? They might have something similar in their nature but these two are totally different. Both have these names have a history of their own.
Nerd Traits:
- Extreme interest or fascination with academics
- Introverted
- Socially Inept
- Diverse and sometimes impractical skillets due to broad interests in games, movies, science, computers, etc.
- Uses a PC
- Interest might include: Battle star Galactica (BSG), LARPing, Second Life, Physics, Chess, Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Computer programming
Geek Traits:
- Someone with a specific niche interest/lifestyle that they have become the expert on
- A fan of gadgets
- An early adopter
- Uses a Mac
- Wears ironic t-shirts
- Can be pretentious and longwinded
- Knowledge can range from mundane to “living encyclopedia” status
- Interests might include gaming, film (both artsy and anything Will Ferrel stars in), collecting, gadgets/tech, computing, coding, hacking, techno music, screen printing, etc.
