Google Chrome 18 launched – Download available

Stable version 18 of the most used web browser Google Chrome is out now. Google was the first company to launch a browser using the rapid cycle release which means there would be browser updates in quick sessions. Chrome 17 was launched earlier in Feb, 2012 and now Google brings Chrome 18 with many significant changes.

Around 9 security issues brought up by users have been fixed in this stable release. Chrome has introduced many new features in this update which also includes improved graphics support in new and old computers through WebGL, which provides JavaScript APIs for rendering 3D content in the Canvas element and Canvas2D. This has been made possible with the help of Swiftshader. Swiftshader will work when Chrome’s in built graphics processor acceleration stops responding. With this major update, Google claims that more users will have access to basic 3D content on web. Canvas 2D feature will help older PC’s in processing animation and games in a faster response time. Google Chrome 19 is due for release in around 6 weeks and Google Chrome 20 will be up for launch in June. Google also updated Adobe flash plug-in in Chrome 18.
